Aeschynomene aspera,is commonly called Shola , is widely distributed in tropical Asia.Mostly, it grows in shallow water bodies including rice field. Mostly, the plant is a common weed in rice field. In India, it is distributed in Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Peninsular India .The plant is very popular because it is used by traditional craftsman as raw material for preparing artistic and decorative materials. Shola stem are sun dried for 3-4 days for that green coloured stem become brown, After the hard brown cover peeled off and the spongy white soft shola is ready for creating decorative substances
